At White Ink Calligraphy, we are firm believers that save the dates should be anything but boring. Too often, couples opt for a simple photo card that feels more like a holiday greeting card than an exciting wedding announcement. While there’s nothing wrong with using minted, oftentimes the designs end up looking basic and boring. We believe your save the dates should be fun and exciting while reflecting the personality, style, and uniqueness of your big day. A save the date is the first impression of your wedding setting the tone for the big day, and we LOVE making it one to remember!
Custom save the dates create a sense of excitement, giving guests a glimpse of the style and experience they can expect. Plus, investing in a custom design allows you to incorporate elements that are meaningful to you as a couple, just like the couples below did! Plus, a beautifully crafted save the date often becomes a keepsake rather than something that gets tossed aside.
Taylor & Joseph’s Vellum Overlay Save the Date
Taylor and Joseph’s save the date design is all about layering elegance. It featured a vellum overlay with their wedding details printed on it, placed over a beautiful engagement photo. A grommet at the top held the two pieces together, creating an interactive and elevated look. This is a perfect example of how to incorporate a photo into your save the date, but still keep the design elegant and timeless. This save the date is anything but boring! To make it even more special, we included a custom sketch of the Nashville skyline on the inside of the envelope. Then, on the outside it read, “See Ya’ll in Nashville”. Their wedding took place at Cherokee Dock, formerly owned by country music legend Reba McEntire, making the setting just as stunning as the design itself.
Lindsey & Dillon’s Photo Strip Magnet Save the Date
Lindsey and Dillon’s photo strip magnet save the date went viral on our instagram and has become a popular design! This save the date took inspiration from vintage photo booth strips and the couple posed for each picture revealing a new detail about their wedding. To add more of the couple’s own style and personality, we included artwork by Keith Haring in the background of the photos, as he is one of their favorite artists. We then transformed the photo strip design into a magnet, bringing back the old magnet save the date trend in a fresh and fun way. Since creating this, we’ve turned into a semi-custom design that we’ve now created variations of for several other couples! It’s a playful, practical, and memorable way to announce a wedding date.
Alice & Peter’s Cohesive Invitation Suite Save the Date
For Alice and Peter, their save the date wasn’t just a standalone piece—it was part of a beautifully curated suite that carried the same artistic and design elements from start to finish. The bride’s friend created hand-drawn artwork sketches that were featured throughout their invitation suite, including their beautiful save the dates. This cohesive approach ensured that guests got an immediate sense of the couple’s wedding aesthetic right from the first mailing. This stunning wedding was even featured on Over the Moon, where the bride works, making it even more special!
